All shapes on a sheet of paper attached to a gift are numbered. Each number matches a crayon color. Fill it all in with the correct colors to reveal the name of a guest of Christmas day.
Every present from the Mad Wrapper was marked with a piece of paper presenting a jumbled mess of overlapping letters; outlines only. Every weird little shape created from the intersecting overlaps housed a number. Many boxes of crayons showed up in packages throughout the morning. Each crayon was labeled with a unique number. A few people guessed it immediately: Paint-By-Number! Everyone soon grabbed a fist full of crayons and began the slow process of coloring the blanks. Gradually, as the morning wore on, names appeared on the papers and presents were opened.
